Don’t be Mad, it’s a Brand New Me!
Have you ever been at a place in your life when you realized you’ve changed? A lot?
I have been going through a transition in my life that probably started many years ago but had me feeling like I was on hold for the last few of them.
I had dreams of how my life would be, things I thought I’d be doing, places I thought I’d be living but none of those happened.
My life went in another direction….not by accident….but still not what I expected.
A friend told me about this video, and when I watched it, I could so relate:
Alicia Keys: A Brand New Me
The “Brand New Me” has begun to emerge
I don’t know exactly when it began, but I know now that the Brand New me is emerging and I Like it!
I started thinking about this while on a Conscious Creators call last night when I heard a statement about how the Law Of Attraction has us believing that we are attracting the things in our lives.
Like the death of a loved one for example is somehow attracted by how we are thinking.
Then our coach and mentor said this….
It’s about manifestation of experience….not about attracting things to do.
A Brand New Me After The Death of My Mother….
When I was caring for my mom in what ended up being her last days, I had time to reflect on the last few years and came to understand that it was an experience. The experiences we went through together were possible because of other past experiences in my life that made me strong enough to handle this one. (check out my Strong Powerful Woman Video to understand what I mean here)
It seems to me, our experiences in life seem to build upon the others to mold us, make us, and take us the direction of our purpose in this life.
While going through probably the most difficult experience of my life, I instinctively knew it was going to take me to a better place. That is an odd thing to say, think and feel when you lose your mother. But I knew in my heart that my life would change and it was going to be great….not just okay.
“Nothing goes to waste on the journey of life. Both good and bad experiences shape your Mind and Heart for what is to come.” Leon Brown
You see …I believe the experience of caring for my mother, caring for her in her last days, and holding her in my arms during her last moments here on earth, help create the Brand New Me I am becoming today.
~The Brand New Me that takes my health seriously
~The Brand New Me willing to take a stand for herself, what she believes, and what she wants.
~The Brand New Me that that understands the importance of loving people today while they are with us, not after they are gone.
~The Brand New Me that understands that the most important things in life aren’t usually bought.
~ The Brand New Me that knows she CAN DO ANYTHING SHE PUTS HER MIND TOO!
The growth and change I’ve been going through has helped me to understand and realize that :
1. I don’t fear death….it’s a passage to a better place
2. the way I choose to see things, my life, experiences, totally determines what I do and what I believe I can do.
When things happen in my life now, I don’t dwell on the actual experience, I ask myself what I’m supposed to learn and know from it instead.
This Brand New Me has new sense of Freedom
There is no greater feeling of freedom than knowing that I can be exactly who I am and I was meant to be and I am here for a purpose!

Alicia Keys: Brand New Me Lyrics
It’s been a while, I’m not who I was before
You look surprised, your words don’t burn me anymore
Been meaning to tell you, but I guess it’s clear to see
Don’t be mad, it’s just the brand new kind of me
Can’t be bad, I found a brand new kind of free
Careful with your ego, he’s the one that we should blame
Had to grab my heart back
God knows something had to change
I thought that you’d be happy
I found the one thing I need, why you mad
It’s just the brand new kind of me
It took a long long time to get here
It took a brave, brave girl to try
It took one too many excuses, one too many lies
Don’t be surprised, don’t be surprised
If I talk a little louder
If I speak up when you’re wrong
If I walk a little taller
I’ve been under you too long
If you noticed that I’m different
Don’t take it personally
Don’t be mad, it’s just the brand new kind of me
That ain’t bad, I found a brand new kind of free
Oh, it took a long long road to get here
It took a brave brave girl to try
I’ve taken one too many excuses, one too many lies
Don’t be surprised, oh see you look surprised
Hey, if you were a friend, you want to get know me again
If you were worth the while
You’d be happy to see me smile
I’m not expecting sorry
I’m too busy finding myself
I got this
I found me, I found me, yeah
I don’t need your opinion
I’m not waiting for your ok
I’ll never be perfect, but at least now i’m brave
Now, my heart is open
And I can finally breathe
Don’t be mad, it’s just the brand new kind of free
That ain’t bad, I found a brand new kind of me
Don’t be mad, it’s a brand new time for me, yeah
